Wills

Wills and Trusts
Everyone over the age of 18 should make a Will. However, a startling 27 million adults in England and Wales do not have one. To die without having made a Will is to have died ‘intestate’. There are rules in place for deciding who inherits your assets, depending on your personal circumstances. These people may not be who you would want to inherit your estate. Given the importance of a Will, it is vital that you obtain professional advice from a specialist. All Will Writers are not the same and many are unregulated, uninsured and unqualified. Lawson Legal Services is a specialist business run by Leigh Purdy, former Solicitor, with professional qualifications and expertise in writing Wills and Trusts.

Fact

Did you know…?

It is commonly believed that unmarried partners are automatically entitled to inherit everything from each other – the ‘Common Law Wife’. This is NOT the case. If you are not married then your partner will NOT inherit your individual assets unless that have been nominated in your Will.

Features

A Will allows you to:

  1. Distribute your wealth to whom you want to inherit upon your death.

  2. Choose your Executors who will be responsible for administering your estate.

  3. Nominate guardians to look after your children.

  4. Decide at what age your beneficiaries will inherit according to what age you feel is appropriate.

  5. Leave specific gifts of sentimental value to friends, family and loved ones.

  6. Donate to a charity of your choice.

  7. Set out what is to happen to your pets.
